WikiIslam was made public on Sept. 4, 2006. Since then we’ve had 9,214,676 page views. Currently, an average of 100,000 people visit us every month to read 2,303 articles, generating approximately 200,000 page views.

We need your support to continue growing, to maintain our current content, and to create new content. There are several ways you can help do this.

[edit] Ways To Support Us

[edit] Editing

The most obvious way is by becoming an editor. This includes anything from helping us complete the tasks listed on our tasks page, to simply copy-editing existing articles to improve its use of spelling and grammar. Editing is our preferred form of help. If you want to contribute new articles to the site or update existing ones with additional information, please read our policies and guidelines. We need people who are knowledgeable on Islam-related issues and can understand the quality of work that is needed and what is appropriate for this site.

[edit] Translations

We need native speakers of the following languages to translate some important articles: Indonesian, Urdu, Bengali and Arabic. As an example we have some French articles. If you can help, please contact us.

[edit] Tell Others

Another way you can help support the site is by telling others about us. If you own or run a website/blog then link to us. If you frequent forums then add our URL to your signature, and so on.

[edit] Donations

If you find the site beneficial but do not have the spare time or are not knowledgeable on Islam-related issues, you can still help by providing us with donations.

Work waiting to be done

1. Importing of Forum Posts:
Some of our most popular pages actually began as forum posts written by members of FFI. These include:

There are countless valuable FFI forum posts like these buried among other posts in old threads and forum archives. We have to gather the information from these posts and transform them into wiki articles like the above pages so the public can see them.

2. Adding new websites for Islam on the Net:
We need to surf the internet and add more websites to our Islam on the Net page, a directory of websites and blogs which are related to the criticism of Islam. This is also another of our most popular pages with over 47,000 hits.

3. Translation of the Qur'an:
Although many translations are available on the web, ours will be unique with a non-Muslim perspective and the only one with a word-to-word translation and other unique and important information relating to each surah. Al-Fatiha is one surah which has been written by an editor knowledgeable in Arabic but there are 114 surahs in the Qur'an with more than 6,000 verses so he needs all the help he can get to complete this project.

4. Islam Illustrated:
A new Islam Illustrated section of the site had been started. Photoshop skills will be needed to create more pages to include more hadiths and verses.

5. IDebater:
This is a new concept that is not available anywhere else on the internet. When the project is finished, it will be like a computer that debates with a Muslim. For an incomplete example which will give you an idea of what it would look like, please see: IDebater. Needless to say, there are many advantages to this approach.

These are just a few example but we have new projects and tasks that are regularly added to our tasks page.

Work in progress or complete

The following tasks were completed by the help of donations:
Testimonies of Leaving Islam: Testimonies of former Muslims were imported from various sources.
Some examples include:

Islam: A Critical Analysis (manuscript that was imported into the wiki with the help of donations)
Old content, restructured:

[edit] Frequently Asked Questions by Prospective Donors

Here are a few FAQ’s which attempt to summarize the information above in case you still have any questions.

Why do you need money?
We need money to hire editors to complete the projects above and the tasks listed on our tasks page.

Why can't you find volunteers to do the work above?
It is not easy to find volunteers. The tasks involve significant time and effort in order to be completed. It is understandable that the average person would not be motivated to work on these projects for free. If you are interested to work as a volunteer, please email us and we will get you started on one of these projects.

Why don’t you do the work yourself?
We do as much editing as we can but our list of tasks is always growing and we are also busy with maintaining the website, and keeping up with the software updates and development.

How do I know my money will be spent in the right way?
All donations will be used for paying our editors.

How can I make a payment?
At this time we are only accepting Paypal as a method of payment.

Are donations tax deductible?
No, unfortunately that will require us to be registered as a non-profit organization which is not possible due to anonymity concerns.

Can I work as a paid or volunteer editor?
Yes, if you are interested, please email us. You only need a computer and a Paypal account and you can work from anywhere. We will send you more details about the work after you email us. The work is text based and you can see some of the sample projects described above.
