Shaykh Muhammad Hassan said that there is a media campaign to make people fear Islam and the shari'ah. He responds to those who promote this campaign by quoting Imam Ibn Hazam's words from "The Categories of the Consensus": "The Ummah is in agreement that protection of the dhimmis from outside attacks is a duty for Muslims." He added: "This is a religion, and we need to know this conversation, for we don't need foreigners to come and protect the Copts. We are the ones who will protect their worship, wealth, and women, for our religion and the shari'a of our prophet command us to do so. Those who follow the followers and the Salafis have been wronged by many of those who have joined themselves to the movement. For example, myself and others have been severe and harsh. Some who are a part of the Salafi platform have wronged it, and this divine platform should not be judged by the mistakes of Muhammad Hussan or any other venerable shaykhs, for Salafism is greater and bigger than their mistakes...
