[edit] Testimony of Leaving Islam

Discontent with the pack of lies that clerics and general public believe in. I was a lay Muslim (you can call that moderate, but it is much less that that). My questioning of some of the Islamic tenets began when I started to read the historical books of the old apostates in the libraries of an American state university. I was then 19 years old. It was an eye opener. What really did it for me in terms of a total rejection of Islam was Mohamed's deeds and actions in his early phase of the establishment of the religion. As a kid I thought this so called prophet was infallible. Of course, it turned out he was an opportunist who although wanted to unify the Arab tribes with a religion comparable to the Hebrew prophets. He failed miserably. He did the worst things in order to accomplish that. It was militarianism and totalitarianism. I believe that among all monotheist religions, Islam is the less spiritual, in fact it is "spiritual-less". The Sufi's and fakirs tried but were murdered. Islam then and even now is rather a dictatorship of symbolic domination.

There are many books that have opened my eyes I would like to name some who really have been instrumental in starting me in a journey of discovery of the real truth about Islam:

  • El-Tabari's The books of Kings and Prophets (Volume 6? dealing with Islam early phase).
  • Ram Swarup's Understanding Islam Through Hadis
  • Bertrand Russel's Why I am not a Christian.
  • Ibn Warraq's Why I am not a Muslim came at the right time to substantiate all that I have thought about Islam.
