Anti-atheist Protest

Tens of thousands of Islamic activists praying on the streets of the Bangladeshi capital during a rally (March 29, 2013) calling for the introduction of blasphemy laws and the restoration of a caretaker government. Members of the Islami Andolan Bangladesh demanded the arrest of "atheist bloggers who insulted Islam" and the passing of laws to punish those who "insulted Islam" in the parliament.

Temples Attacked

Muslims attacked temples, houses and shops of Hindus in four districts. Since Jamaat leader Delawar Hossain Sayedee was handed down a death sentence in a war crimes case on February 28, 2013, more than 26 temples, 175 houses and dozens of shops of the minorities across the country have been vandalised, torched and looted.

Atheist Bloggers Arrested

Three Bangladeshi bloggers arrested and paraded for offending Islam. They face up to 10 years in prison and a fine of 10 million taka (100 thousand euro).
