Armed Muslims pray for protection in Arabic before ambushing a 52-year-old man outside a gay & bisexual club, fire seven shots and almost kill him with three bullets in the groin, back and leg

AN Australian-born man known to intelligence authorities for his extreme religious views has been charged over an alleged near-fatal shooting outside a sex club in Sydney's northwest earlier this year.

Milad Bin Ahmad Shah al-Ahmadzai, 23, will appear before Goulburn Local Court today over the May 1 shooting and ambush of a 52-year-old man outside the Aarows nightclub on Bridge St, Rydalmere. The establishment is a 24-hour gay, bisexual and swingers club.

Ahmadzai was arrested at Goulburn prison yesterday and briefly appeared before a magistrate.

The victim sustained significant injuries during the ambush, including extensive damage to his back, foot, and groin.

He was walking back to his car about 1am when the alleged incident unfolded, with CCTV capturing the two men with their faces concealed firing a number of shots.

Ahmadzai has been under investigation by the Middle Eastern Organised Crime Squad's Strike Force Maloney ever since , which is still searching for two accomplices.

He was charged with shooting with intent to murder, discharging a firearm with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, assault in company with intent to rob while armed with a dangerous weapon, steal motor vehicle, damage property by fire and take/drive conveyance without consent of owner.
Police released footage of the incident on Tuesday, asking the public to come forward with information that may lead to an arrest.

A 52-year-old man was in the rear car park of Aarows, a 24-hour gay, bisexual and swingers club in Rydalmere, when at least two men shot him about 1am (AEST) on May 1.

Police said the offenders fired seven times, wounding the man with three bullets in the groin, back and leg.

The victim spent a considerable amount of time in hospital recovering from his injuries. Detectives from the Middle Eastern Organised Crime Squad continue to investigate the shooting.

They have released CCTV of the incident and video and audio taken from a van allegedly stolen before the shooting.

"One of the men can be heard reciting what's believed to be a prayer in Arabic, asking for protection from being identified prior to the shooting," police said in a statement.
