Description of project
The iDebater is in essence a collection of interlinked pages. The idea is to provide apologists a chance to debate on the computer about any aspect of Islam. They will be given a question and presented with multiple choices. Each of those choices leads to a new question with its own multiple choice responses and so on.
If you are an apologist and would like to test your ability to defend Islam, the iDebater can help. This series is accessible with a site wide link "Test your faith in Islam" and is written in a neutral tone. The series is mainly for people who land on our site through search queries and other means.
Test Debate
Is morality in Islam absolute or relative?
Absolute |
---|
This means that what was wrong in 7th century A.D. Arabia is wrong today in 21st century Arabia and anywhere else in the world. This also means that what is wrong today was wrong back then. We are in agreement. Move on to the next question: Is a pre-pubescent nine-year-old a child or an adult? |
Relative |
---|
This means that what was wrong in 7th century A.D. Arabia might not be wrong today, and what is wrong today might not be wrong back then. In other words, there is no universal moral standard. If this is your choice, you might want to rethink your idea of Theism. If Allah is unchanging and eternal, then his moral code should also be unchanging and eternal. A human being is fickle. Do you really think an omniscient, omnipotent deity would be? You have lost the debate at the very first question. Try again. |
Is a pre-pubescent nine-year-old a child or an adult?
- A child is defined as a person between birth and puberty who has not attained maturity or the age of legal majority.[1] According to the UN's Convention on the Rights of the Child, a child means every human being below the age of eighteen years unless under the law applicable to the child, majority is attained earlier.[2]
- An adult is defined as a person who has attained maturity or legal age, and biologically-speaking it means a fully grown, mature organism.[3]

We are in agreement. Move on to the next question: Is it wrong for an adult man to have sex with a child? |
Adult |
---|
Did you happen to read the definitions given? We are not in agreement considering the most widely-accepted definitions would define a pre-pubescent nine-year-old as a child. Please submit an explanation here: Why Muslims think a nine-year-old is an adult. Continue to the next question (although most people would consider this debate to be over): Do you believe that people should be killed for changing their religious beliefs? |
Is it wrong for an adult man to have sex with a child?
Yes |
---|
We are in agreement. 53-year-old Muhammad had sex with a 9-year-old, prepubescent child. For more information regarding Muhammad's pedophilic relationship with Aisha: Move on to next question: Do you believe the information about Aisha's age at the consummation of her marriage to Muhammad is incorrect? |
No |
---|
We are not in agreement. Consider this debate over because you condone pedophilia. |
Do you believe that people should be killed for changing their religious beliefs?
Yes |
---|
We are not in agreement. Consider this debate over because you condone murder and/or execution for 'thought crimes.' If a Christian converted to Islam, would it be wrong if a group of Christians killed that newly converted Muslim? If so, then how can it be right for an ex-Muslim to be killed for leaving Islam? If Islam is truly peaceful and “the Truth,” then why would the peaceful Truth ever need to have people killed in order to maintain its status as the Truth? |
No |
---|
We are in agreement. Islam sanctions the execution of apostates. For more information regarding apostasy, please see the following: |
Do you believe the information about Aisha's age at the consummation of her marriage to Muhammad is incorrect?
Yes |
---|
We are not in agreement. According to the most trusted (sahih) Islamic sources, Aisha was a child when Muhammad consummated their marriage.[4] Also, the Quran allows for a man to marry a child.[5] There are dozens of Islamic writings that confirm her young age and immaturity. The excuse that Muhammad would not have done something against the Quran is refuted here. Besides, the Quran allows for marriage between a man and a girl who has not yet menstruated as is demonstrated here. There is no logical explanation for why the Islamic writings would confirm Aisha's young age except that she was in fact of a young age. This was of utmost importance to the narrators, one of whom was Aisha herself. The Arabian pagans were reputed to bury their infant girls alive, and Abu Bakr had been a pagan prior to his conversion to Islam, so why would Abu Bakr have had a problem with Aisha being married young to Muhammad? Why would the Quraysh have a problem with it if they had no problem killing infants? Beides, Abu Bakr is reported to have physically injured his daughter. Also, how can the Hadith be considered “untrustworthy” when the Quran was not written by the hands of Muhammad, nor was he available to read over the final product once it was completed (not that it would have mattered considering he was illiterate)?! There are no isnads for the Quran. There is proof that the text is imperfect. There are plenty of grammatical errors and scientific mistakes as well as contradictions. |

We are in agreement. The Sahih Bukhari & Muslim Hadiths, along with the Sunan Abu Dawud and other Islamic sources confirm her age to be 9. [6] Also, the Quran allows for a man to marry a child.[7] Please recall that you had previously decided that a pre-pubescent, nine-year-old girl is a child, and that it is wrong for a man to have sex with a child. Muhammad had sex with a child. You have now agreed that the Prophet of Islam, the Final Messenger of Allah committed the immoral act of sex with a child, also known as pedophilia and rape in developed parts of the world. You have lost the debate. Islam's prophet is a degenerate. However if your excuse is that “consummate” does not mean to have sexual intercourse, we have a rebuttal here: The Meaning of “Consummate” |
